Atheism FAQ
- Why do you hate God?
- Without belief in an afterlife / fear of hell, how can people be moral?
- Without God / religion / the Bible, how can people be moral?
- Isn’t it better to believe, just in case? After all, if I’m wrong, then I don’t lose much, but if you’re wrong…
- How can you be an atheist? You can’t prove God doesn’t exist!
- If you don’t believe in God, why do you talk about him so much?
- Atheism is just another religion!
- To say “there is no god” you need as much faith as to say the opposite.
- What do you atheists worship, then?
- There must be a God; otherwise, life is pointless / there is no basis for morality / etc.
- You simply don’t want any authority above you, as everyone, deep inside, knows there is a God.
- Atheists are evil. Look at Soviet Russia.
- Evolution is just a theory, while “God did it” explains everything.
- God exists, because the Bible says so. The Bible is the word of God. Do you doubt God?
- What if you’re wrong, and God does exist?
NEW: if you speak Portuguese, there’s a new and improved version of this very FAQ, by yours truly, here: FAQ de Ateísmo. It’s based on this one, but has replies to new questions, and some of the answers to the old ones are improved. I hope to eventually “backport” the improvements to this original English version.
