I mean Fred Phelps <i>is</i> a fundamentalist Christian guy. It's what he does. It's all he does, all day long. It's not like he could lose his faith and keep the rest of life the same. Whereas if your faith is just something you <i>do</i> on a Sunday, it's a lot easier to stop. This is perhaps why (if you believe the Gospels) Jesus spent so much time emphasizing that you couldn't be a Christian if you didn't give up everything else and follow him. Right –
