No, it appears to me that in this country, we are finding much more at issue with Kent Hovind who, to my knowledge, never murdered anyone–never even tried. His ability to communicate his theories to vast audiences and influence his community to take action, for better or worse, never incited anyone to hang a pregnant woman and cut her child out from the womb. Yes, Hovind has been outspoken, daring, headstrong; and if paying income tax were actually required by law, I would say he was a lawbreaker to boot! But Dr. Hovind is NOWHERE–NOHOW deserving of such unbridled ridicule as I witness from his many detractors. It looks like the American motto is “kick ‘em when they’re down”.

It just seems to me as if this myriad of ill-wishers were simply poor losers of some past debate who have now become ungracious default winners. From the information I have read and understood, Hovind studied hard and presented what he had learned. His academic qualifications came under scrutiny which is what happens when one makes enemies in academic circles. His income came under scrutiny which is what happens when one makes enemies at the IRS. I am sure there is a lot more to the story, but Kent Hovind is being treated as if he were Public Enemy Number One — and I object to that because THAT is more of a betrayal of decency than any of this man’s offenses. This brand of unreserved belittling should be aimed at those unrepentant offenders of humanity who truly deserve it–not the nosetweakers of the world.
