Historians seem to think so, according to this Rolling Stone article. Long, but, IMO, a fascinating read.
Among other gems:
According to the Treasury Department, the forty-two presidents who held office between 1789 and 2000 borrowed a combined total of $1.01 trillion from foreign governments and financial institutions. But between 2001 and 2005 alone, the Bush White House borrowed $1.05 trillion, more than all of the previous presidencies combined. Having inherited the largest federal surplus in American history in 2001, he has turned it into the largest deficit ever — with an even higher deficit, $423 billion, forecast for fiscal year 2006.
And, of course:
Armed with legal findings by his attorney general (and personal lawyer) Alberto Gonzales, the Bush White House has declared that the president’s powers as commander in chief in wartime are limitless. No previous wartime president has come close to making so grandiose a claim. More specifically, this administration has asserted that the president is perfectly free to violate federal laws on such matters as domestic surveillance and the torture of detainees.

Amazing how some magazines are finally coming out in the open.
I was really surprised at Harpers’ “The Case for Impeachment: Why we can no longer afford George W. Bush”
http://www.harpers.org/TheCaseForImpeachment.html
I forgot to ask… is that ok if I make a link to your blog on my blog? Thanks.
Sure, be my guest.
Nice article, too. Thanks.
Wonderful spread on Bush. I think we are in a slide without recovery. In my seventy one years, I have never seen our country in a worse condition. Both political parties are totally corrupted by special interests. We need to amend the constitution to include a peoples veto that would have top say over all three of our U.S. branches of government. This can be done, we need to do it to save our country.
Interesting article. I’m also suprised by how some magazines are in the open.
President G W. Bush has no consideration or care for families who are in the War fighting for absolutely nothing. All he cares about is making use of the Country of Iraq for Oil purposes. The greedy money powering family he came from doesnt care that aside from terroism and him probably being the reason why this country was attacked in the first place, but of how serious global warming is becoming and of course his normal, once the movie hits the scenes, he is probably going to down talk that just like he did Fahrenheit 911. What happened to Impeaching this dude? You mean to tell me we got a whole year and a half more of this bullsh%% with this dude, this C student who got his family to mess with the elections and instead of the smart Al Gore, we got this idiot who cant even formulate words in speeches he dont write. What’s happening to our people and what’s happening to our country?
