From this article:
The Emmy-winning scientist angered a few audience members when he criticized literal interpretation of the biblical verse Genesis 1:16, which reads: “God made two great lights — the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.”
He pointed out that the sun, the “greater light,” is but one of countless stars and that the “lesser light” is the moon, which really is not a light at all, rather a reflector of light.
A number of audience members left the room at that point, visibly angered by what some perceived as irreverence.
“We believe in a God!” exclaimed one woman as she left the room with three young children.
As usually, any bothersome fact that contradicts their narrow view of the world is ignored. “La la la, I can’t hear you, you evil secularist enemy of religion…”
I guess that idiotic woman believes the moon is actually a source of light?!
Really, how can people be so stupid?

quite easily, actually. use of the brain is something that has to be cultivated, practiced, encouraged. in a nation such as this one, where citizens are trained instead to let their brain lie dormant and allow others to do their thinking, there’s very little motivation to intelligence or independent thought.
so if the moon is not a source of light, I suppose a mirror does not produce a image of light when reflected. its truly ashame that some people would pass there self off as empty when full of self doubt. but true weakness will be found if all you have is a grave plot coming. for in silence and unjudgemental attiudude could gain a light of light in a deadly world.
The ability to look at the facts right in the face, walk away ignoring what you saw and saying to yourself
surley the world is not like that in order to keep what little sanity that remains.
Is not a sign of stupidity. I do it all the time. ( Hahaha )
For me science is my religion it has no real rules only boundrys of personal ethics and logic.
And its a religion requires much more study than that of christ and pals, and nothing becomes clear in the end.
For anyone who has read everything there is to know about a subject, they know that the solution
becomes more illuding for every fact they learn.
Which brings me back to my main point, as you read about all the amazing human who have passed before us
and all the wonders of science. When I sit and talk to a stupid person, I look at thier facts ( ie their belief … facts to them )
right in the face. Then walk away ignoring what I have seen saying to myself
“Surley the world is not like that”
