This one is a bit offtopic on this site, but… Firefox 1.5 is out.
Since this isn’t a technical blog, I’ll explain: Firefox is a web browser, much like Internet Explorer (IE), which comes with Windows systems… only it’s much better, faster, more stable and more secure. When you get used to it (including features such as tabbed browsing, a decent popup blocker, and others), you’ll discover that browsing the web can really be a pleasure - and you’ll feel crippled when you have to use a friend’s computer and he or she only has IE. Of course, in such a case, Firefox is always a (small) download away…
Try it out, it’s free… just get it from here.
We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

Hi,
I tried FireFox and wasn’t happy with the way it worked on my computer — I found one I like much better and it works great: Advanced Browser (http://www.advancedbrowser.com/). Its a free download, it’s fast and gives me no problems. You DO have to have IE installed on the computer however because it uses some of it’s features.
I think I recall something named “Avant Browser” that mas like the one you described, more or less.
harveyg: sorry to hear that you didn’t like the Fox. To me, it’s the only browser (along with Opera) that makes web browsing a pleasure, instead of a chore. But sometimes old habits are hard to break…
I use FF, and downloaded the new version. I renamed all the old folders before doing the install of 1.5, and I’m glad I did. Most of the extensions that I use have not been updated yet to be useable with 1.5. So I went back to my older version for now.
Dirty Butter: most of them have, now. And, for the ones that haven’t, there’s a trick you can use to “fool” them into being compatible.
Advanced Browser seems to be a “skin” of Internet Explorer, which means you can still get some of the drawbacks, and benefits, of IE.
I use Opera almost exclusively.
I think Firefox 1.5 was released too early - a few bugs left. BA~~9
