Article: "What it feels to be an atheist"

I can’t tell you in a few words (and I don’t want to write several paragraphs saying it) how much I was impressed when reading this article: What it feels to be an atheist.

Most believers will stop at the first paragraph, or enter their “ignore everything” mode when they start reading, so it certainly won’t “unconvert” anyone - only cold, brutal, “admitting that you were wrong” honesty can ever do it. But it’s still a brilliant piece of writing.

I also enjoyed reading this. I printed a copy from work one day last week and found myself laughing on my commute trip home. Although, I will say that I think you inadvertently make a good point about writing a long review of the article in that the article itself could have been much shorter.

Yes, it’s long, but it’s very well written. I didn’t find it funny, though - much the opposite, I found it chilling. I’m lucky to live in Europe, where people aren’t so fanatical about religions, and I’ve never been a victim of discrimination, or even “stares”, because I’m an atheist. But reading that post, and some of the comments, and imagining life in such an environment, is really scary…
